Temporary lighting arrangements for night works and work areas, planned around the site and its surroundings.
Night working often solves the traffic problem and creates a lighting one. The work area has to be lit well enough to be safe, without dazzling drivers or lighting up the bedrooms opposite. We plan the lighting as part of the traffic management rather than as an afterthought.
What we plan
- Tower lights and task lighting positioned to cover the work area and the approaches.
- Lighting at signal heads, closure points and pedestrian crossing points so they remain visible.
- Glare control: aiming, screening and height so that road users are not dazzled.
- Residential considerations, including the authority’s hours and noise conditions for generators.
- Power: generator, battery or mains, chosen for run time and noise.
- Fuel, refuelling and security for lights left in place between shifts.
How it fits with the traffic management
Lighting positions are shown on the traffic management drawing where the authority asks for them, so the whole arrangement is approved together. On site, lighting is supplied and set up through our Key Delivery Partners and coordinated by Vanguard.
Do night works need authority approval?
Usually. Working outside normal hours is often a permit condition in itself, and some authorities apply noise conditions. We confirm what applies for your site.
Can you light a site that has no mains power?
Yes. Most temporary lighting runs on diesel or battery tower lights, which do not need a mains supply.
Who supplies the lights?
Lighting is supplied through our Key Delivery Partners, planned and coordinated by Vanguard as part of your traffic management package.
