OUR SERVICES / SITE SURVEYS
See the site
before the plan.
An on-site review of road layout, access, pedestrian routes and physical constraints, so the drawing reflects the road as it is.
Maps and street imagery go out of date. A survey records what is actually there: carriageway widths, parking, bus stops, crossings, gradients, sightlines and anything else that changes how the works can be managed.
What we record
- Carriageway and footway widths at the works and at any closure or signal points.
- Parking, loading bays, bus stops and taxi ranks that may need suspending.
- Pedestrian crossings, dropped kerbs and the routes people actually use.
- Junctions, accesses and driveways within the extent of the works.
- Sightlines, bends, gradients and speed of traffic.
- Street furniture, trees, overhead lines and underground chamber covers.
- Photographs, measurements and a what3words reference for the drawing title block.
When a survey is worth it
Not every job needs one. A short footway occupation on a quiet street can usually be drawn from a good description and photos. A survey earns its place when the road is narrow or busy, when signals or a closure are likely, when the authority has already raised concerns, or when the works are long enough that getting the layout wrong would lose days.
A survey is usually worth it if it avoids one rejected application or one re-set on site.
What you get
A short survey record with measurements, photographs and notes on constraints, and a recommendation on the traffic management approach. If you have asked for a drawing, the survey feeds straight into it.
How quickly can you survey a site?
It depends on location and the size of the site. Tell us where and when the works are planned and we will give you a date.
Do you need access to the site?
Usually not. Most surveys are carried out from the public highway. If the works are inside a compound or private land, let us know and we will arrange access.
Can the survey be combined with a site consultation?
Yes. Many clients ask for both, so the survey findings and the discussion about options happen in one visit.
Requirements vary by location and scope. Contact us to discuss the requirements for your project.
