OUR SERVICES / SITE CONSULTATION
Advice before
the first cone.
Plain advice on scope, programme and traffic management options before work begins.
The expensive mistakes in traffic management are made early: dates fixed before the permit lead time is known, a closure assumed where signals would do, or a plan that the authority will not accept. A short conversation at the start avoids most of them.
What we cover
- Whether the works need traffic management at all, and at what level.
- Which highway authority is responsible and what they will ask for.
- Permits, notices, licences and TTROs likely to apply, with realistic lead times.
- The traffic management options: footway works, give-and-take, signals, lane closure or full closure, and the trade-offs between them.
- Working hours, night works, noise conditions and pedestrian access.
- Delivery and plant movements, including whether swept path analysis is needed.
- A sensible programme, with the application dates worked back from your start date.
How it works
Send us the location, a description of the works and your proposed dates. We review them, raise the questions that matter and come back with a clear picture of what is needed and when. For larger or more complicated sites we can meet on site or join your pre-start meeting.
There is no obligation to use us for the drawings or delivery afterwards, though most clients do, because the person who advised on the job is then the person coordinating it.
Is a consultation the same as a quote?
No. A quote prices the work. A consultation tells you what the work needs to be. We often do both together.
Can you advise on a job that is already in trouble?
Yes. If an application has been refused, a programme has slipped or the authority has added conditions, we can look at the options quickly.
Do you advise on events as well as works?
Our focus is works on roads and footways. For event traffic management, tell us the scope and we will say whether we can help or point you to someone who can.
Requirements vary by location and scope. Contact us to discuss the requirements for your project.
